Lens/Camera Test

Recommended Posts

Took this earlier as a test of the X-T1 and the 55-200mm.

This is a jpeg straight out of camera with a 100% crop to show the detail. The lens is wide open at its longest reach and I had the camera on 1600iso to keep the shutter speed up.
I took five frames at 8fps and they're all as sharp as this - the sensor performance blows my old Nikon 12MP out of the water and while the results are also better than the one in the Pentax its the lens that has impressed me the most. Starting to get comfortable with the system change and becoming less worried over whether I've done the right thing.

Will you  take a RAW alongside the jpegs BP....  I always worry  that I'll forget  to use a  duplicate JPEG  when processing / editing and risk degrading  the original jpeg. when I  only shot in that  format . It does  look impressive  mind .. I think  I'm turning a pale shade of green ....without a temperature  though !

It certainly looks like a good investment from where I'm sitting...

I've got the camera set to shoot RAW/JPEG as it only knocks two frames off the buffer and I've plenty of card space. A good percentage of Fuji shooters use jpeg as standard as the conversion is so good and the colours are fantastic so this way I have both choices.

I import all the files into LR to process, it treats both formats the same with really only the under-the-hood processing being different. Lightroom doesn't actually add any processing to the original file, it creates a tag with applied steps along side it and exports a new file when you require a final image. If I push a file to PS a TIFF is created with the settings applied so the original is always that - original.

It has rained none stop since I got the camera - I really, really, really wish it would clear and let me out with it.

You sound just like  someone I know ... when it bucketed down all Christmas day  the year that  Santa put  a treasured mountain bike under the tree !! .... Spent most of the day just staring out the window just willing it to stop ... God knows why cos  he now takes it over terrain  that usually results in it covered in more mud than you can poke a big stick at!
