  1. Thanks for your thoughts Fuji! I'e been using the old laptop on a little table in front of me that works really well. Don't get a hot lap. I have to say having read a load of ebooks, they're a bit weak? Out of all the books I've read none of them give me the specific information I need. Some books are good reads & entertaining but if you want to know what to do in a particular situation just google it! It's free & accurate!
  2. Am I not upsetting people so much now? Now you've had a chance to read & be less 'knee jerk'?
  3. Thanks everybody! For financial reasons I'm kind of stuck with using an old laptop at the moment but I don't mind it so much, it's got easily adjustable brightness. I tried Calibre & it seems to have done horrible things to the images in the book after conversion. I need to learn more about PDFs. Can I get Kindle software to run on the laptop?
  4. I've got an old Windows XP laptop & several hundred photography books in what seems like a variety of PDF formats. With the nights drawing in I'd really like to use the old computer to read them & watch the telly at the same time. Does anyone know of good software that'll handle the files well & not do horrible things to the images?
  5. Oops, made a post & then forgot about it, apologies. My point was that if the quality of the images shown in the Telegraph article are being hung on walls as examples of Winogrand's pics then they're doing him an injustice? Loads of them look really washed out/overexposed. I know that he had problems with processing & hoarded unprocessed film a lot but he deserves the respect of having his images finished by a master processor? One of the finest street photographers, though not as charismatic as Bill Klein?

  7. As long as you understand any piece of equipment's limitations then you'll be okay! Using the camera's timer or a remote control helps. One of my best buys was a remote control for my Pentax, 99p on Ebay! Good shooting mate.
