  1. Hi Kenny, Welcome to the forums I'd vaguely heard of Cosplay but didn't really know what it was until you enlightened us.
  2. Hopefully they'll clean the sensor while it's away for repair.
  3. Does anyone have any recommendations as to how to remove dust from the sensor in a fixed lens camera?
  4. This was the one picture I tried using his technique that he outlined in a video: Not a patch on his work, though infinitely better than my original. (If it looks unnatural, it's because the cat was lying on my lap and therefore his paws are apparently in an extremely odd position!)
  5. http://thewatercolourartist.com/watercolour-blogs-forums.php http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/channels.php?channel_id=31 http://www.artistforum.com/watercolor-painting/ http://www.painters-online.co.uk/forum/ Google is your friend Fuji! The first link may prove the most useful as it's a kind of guide / index to blogs and forums devoted to watercolour.
  6. David995031: Just discovered Neil Gaiman, am reading American Gods. Pretty strange novel. It's a fantasy but not (so far) in a heavy handed Lord of the Rings/Game of Thrones sort of way. Good read. Excuse the bizarre quote mess - sometimes it goes off course in most unexpected ways! Just wanted to say that if you like American Gods and decide to move on to 'Neverwhere', don't make the mistake of watching the TV series first; it's horribly miscast, as you would soon see from reading the book.
  7. 1. I think you know what I meant. 2. Ah - didn't realise he wasn't using full format. Yes, that would make a big difference. He'd need a ... 35mm lens?
  8. If you can zoom with your feet Kev (and I know you can), then I'd say go for it. It would be a superb creative challenge, and you'd look back on the pictures you took with just one fixed prime with a particular pride. Remember - when we started out as toggers, we only had one lens to work with and it was usually a 50mm.
  9. Currently re-reading "Neverwhere". Not sure if it's for kids, YA, or grown-ups, but it's an awesomely original epic adventure.
  10. I'm guessing that you DIDN'T watch Episode 2 of "Time Commanders" then Kev?
  11. Doctor my ears! Great choice K'Meister. Saw JB at Cambridge Folk some years ago. And a very happy Xmas to all.
  12. Unfortunately, eBay are totally on the side of buyers, not sellers. I would always send Tracked/Signed For so there can't be any dispute. However, best of luck trying to get it resolved, hopefully it isn't someone "trying it on", and it's just Xmas rush.
  13. Thanks Dee. Christmas in the Aussie summer must be the weirdest thing ever. Well, to us Brits...!
  14. THOSE items you just mentioned are clearly fakes. But I thought you were talking about the lenses in the original video you posted? Those aren't marked Canon, but are obvious copies, marketed under a different name (at half the price, but as the reviewer says "You get what you pay for").
  15. Why do you say that? Clearly they've ripped off Canon's design, but they're sold under their own name. If they claimed to be Canon lenses then certainly I'd call them fakes. As it is, I'd call them 'rip off Chinese copies'. And possibly Canon could try and sue for infringement of patents too. But no-one buying them would be under any illusion they were buying a Canon lens, not with the name YuonDong (or whatever it was!) plastered all over them.
  16. "Copy" surely, rather than "fake"? It doesn't pretend to be a Canon lens except by design (the name is different).
  17. Is it just me, or does it go into a very Dire Straits sound just before it takes off fully (vocals and guitar)? Yet Mark Knoppfler seems to be about the only person NOT playing on the album! LIsten between 2:10 and 2:50, and again from 3:25 for about 20 seconds.
  18. Did I sound upset?? Blimey, you've been a member here long enough to know when that happens!! I didn't realise the pre-iPhone Blackberries could do all that. Thanks for the 'heads up'. But as you rightly say, the iPhone re-imagined the smartphone from top down, including what amounts to a full computer OS (which itself wasn't a new idea - the Palm and Psion PDAs had been there before). BP's link to a possible future for BB is also interesting - even if all it means is that the BB name will still be on phones, that's a major thing and who knows what it may lead to?
