  1. I need a flash for an event in a few weeks, I borrower a Canon 430EX last year from an old customer, the most important bit was the AF Assist. I have about £100 to spend. would you buy 2nd hand or a Chinese copy Neewer/Yongnuo?
  2. did you ever get this sorted Colin? I was asked to do some Comicon's last year, looked into buying a Sub-dye printer but they were £1500! you can rent them for a couple of hundred with a large deposit.

    Tempest

Hi Guys and Gals. has anyone ever worked for Tempest? or know anyone who has? https://www.htempest.co.uk/ I believe they are very good to work for but the job is very demanding with an extremely low basic wage £6000 a year! I'd love to hear from someone with experience within the company.

How things change, I have been asked by a friend to become a tutor, helping unemployed people get back to work.... sounds like a very worthwhile challenge.

    2017

2017.... one of the most bizarre years of my working life, changed jobs in February, then again in May, then again an August where I was promised the earth, big bonuses etc... without warning I was sacked on 1st November, the first time in my life I was facing the prospects of not having anything to look forward to at xmas! then a bit of good luck, handed out many CV's and went for every interview I could, then on 1st December I was offered 2 jobs in 1 day. thankfully! So for me I am glad to see the back of 2017!!! have a great new year everyone
  8. All many years before I was thought of.... I do have some pictures somewhere of me in deep snow around 1980? ( I was 4-5 years old) then again probably 5 years later I remember having enough snow to be able to roll snowballs taller than I was.....
  9. well, that went down like a lead balloon!!
  10. If you have Flickr or whatever photo site, post your very first image and your last. just for fun. First one was Penington Flash 2012. the 2nd is little Alfie a few weeks ago
  11. My Daughter Amber is doing Photography at high school, she wanted her own camera to use so my brother very kindly gave her his old Fuji HS10. now when I started out I had a Fuji S1500, then a Panasonic FZ45 so I am no gear snob. I find it really poor quality, the focus is slow, the time it takes to actually take a picture seems like forever! The quality of the pictures are also very poor. have I just spent too long with my 70D and quality glass? crazy thing is I always wanted a HS10 when they were new but couldn't afford one!

  13. I eventually bought a Canon 1.4x converter
  14. This has been running thrugh my head for the past week or so. one of my friends I knew from school's daughter came home safe, My youngest daughter goes to school with one of the young girls that is still in a coma, so is her dad. the poem I heard on the radio, I have also heard of many people doing things to help on the night and after, a fellow photographer who is also a Police man heard of all the families at the kids hospital who needed help with food because they did not want to leave the wards.. He approached a local Morrisons and they literally cleared the fridges of all the sandwiches and drinks!! nothing we can do about the sorry state of affairs unfortunately(don't want to start a debate on here) ...Fuji, I have been to gig's there a few times with friends and with my misses and daughter, it is very noisy and crowded but the atmosphere is electric!!

this one is especially for FUJI. a friend of mine (the same person I went for a day out with at 4am a few months ago) was bored, so he drove from Bolton to Llanberis. a 2 hour drive hoping theconditions were good to shoot a LONE TREE!! he was in luck as his shot is stunning... shame it was not on a Yorkshire moor for those on facebook https://www.facebook.com/CollyPhotography/
  17. ok then... another angle? sell up and go mirrorless? would I get as good results as a 70D doing motorsport etc?
  18. I didnt realise this was not a CANON lens.... justa quick nosey on the bay..
  19. I love my 70-200 F4, but it just does not have the range. I cant justify £500-1000 on a piece of glass. I could hide a £200 purchase from the SWMBO what would you get? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EF-EOS-DSLR-fit-100-400mm-AF-Zoom-Lens-Autofocus-white/182476802943?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Dded0f024046f4bc384d20832531c8927%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D182476802943 or http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Canon-EF-Extender-2x-Mark-II-Converter-extender-Great-Condition-MARK-2-/322463129909?hash=item4b144ce135:g:9poAAOSwCU1Y1pC7 these are just examples I dont mean these actual ones... Robin has told me I should go for the 1.4x as I keep AF. the latter would give me more reach on a 70D I think?
  20. admin if you feel the need to remove this I understand, that woman made a difference getting the extra ambulances. amazing way to spend your working life!

    Hobby

I'm always careful. my last bike was a downhill bike, the first time I ever wore a helmet I managed to smash it on the first outing!! a broken limb sticking out from a tree was the culprit.
