Well they do say that lightning doesn 't strike in the same place twice - which I disagree with. That's why people erect lightning conducters.
I wouldn't like to be paying the insurance on the building in the background.Had any good thunderstorms lately?

My first thought was, 'What a daft place to put lightning conductors', so close to buildings and people. Please tell me those strips are not metal.

I think I prefer the first one with the reflection of the buildiing.

I have taken many similar pics but always find them really difficult and sometimes it can feel exploitative... I don't know why it has made me feel like that sometimes as it seems a light should be shone on the plight of the homeless but more and more often, one is never sure of the truth of what we think see ... It's memorable image Mik ....
I know what you mean Polly. I shy away from taking photos such as these as I feel I'm cashing in on someone else's misery. The pair's expressions say it all.

Despite a number of potential winners, there is only one that really stood out for me and this came from Stravinsky's set, 'Birmingham at night'.
The offset composition and underexposure both lead to a dramatic and compelling image.
Congratulatins on a stunning photograph, Strav.Full post here.

I would stick with Adobe RGB - there are a much wider range of colours.
A link for a really professional photobook.

I don't know what to make of this image. The scene looks run down, neglected and overgrown, with saplings growing out of the chimneys, and yet.... Is that a small shopping precinct centre frame?

Ah! I recognise this mill race, Geoff. The monochrome treatment works well.
