Well deserved, beautiful shot

was hoping for a nice sunrise over the snowy landscape but it didnt happen Dogs went mental in the snow

My first go at night time photography and as said many lessons learnt it was black up there couldn't see the ground 4feet in front of me focusing proved an issue i would expect a 17mm lens on full frame even at f4 to have massive depth of field and cant make my mind up if the foreground is out of focus or too much blur from hand holding . But i wont give up it was a starting point and hopefully i will be getting a 24-70 f2.8 in a few months to play with as would like to do more night photography

Very cold, forecast for snow tonight and early morning so maybe a different perspective coming, This morning could see bugger all for freezing fog
-
Well I managed to catch some of it, went up Peak District was a bit of a failure as left tripod at home and head torch broke so had to hand hold for a 10 second exposure no image stabilisation but at 17mm on FF that helped a little could see to manual focus. Lot of lessons learnt for next time. Couldn’t see with naked eye and no moon as fog and mist blocked that

Thanks, These where taken on my old 12 pro max with 12 megapixwls on each lens 9there are 3 lens on rear) i upgraded last week to the 14 pro max which has 12m pixels in ultra wide lens. upto 48m pixels on standard 24mm ;ens and 12m pixels on the zoom lena, again 3 lens on rear but im not fully familier with it yet and seems only 48m pixels are available when shooting RAW there is also a HIEC type file dont have a clue what that is or does yet but for just general quick snaps they are axcellent and quick and easy to use but do have a lot of limitations as you would expect. if i am planning an outing for photography i would used ,y proper camera but still carry this one

Thank you and yes very cold morning.

Got an upgrade last week so my beloved iphone 12 pro max has been passed on. Here is one off the new phone taken as a RAW DNG file, huge files around 80 meg taken on my only outings at the moment walking the dogs not that we see them much there to fast and off chasing squirrels. Grey ones i might add, would let them loose on reds at all. The damage the greys are doing in this area is terrible to the trees they strip the bark all round the tree then tree dies, reds dont do this Anyhow here is a sunrise on the park looking over to our house

Taken on Bonfire night at 6pm thru back door window with iPhone pushed against the glass to stop motion blur, This was in the city limits of Nottingham had there been no light pollution it would have been amazing, couldn’t get out to darker areas as looking after dogs with fireworks going off

A worthy winner

Foggy it appears the link in japan is for the mk 1 hence the price they are comparable here i am considering the mk 2 version alongside the Sigma (slowly losing ground that on is) and the Tamron which is favourite if i can get advice about these colours. Thank you for replying Leon

Thank you Foggy I will look into that looks like they maybe they are cheaper over there than here in rip off Britain lol

So next year come end winter/Spring im looking at widening my photography skills and want to do Night photography IE Aurora, Star trails etc and ive come to the conclusion i need a better walk about lens as well, I currently use a 17-40mm f4L canon lens for landscap on full frame mainly and also wlka about now it serves its purpose well in the Peaks, scotland, and most dramatic mountain areas but i find im oftem at the long end and needing a touch more magnification wspecialy on walk about ( not an issue if i use it on a crop sensor body) So im looking at getting a faster f2.8 say 24-70 as i think tha extra focal lengh will be beneficial and th f2.8 will do me well for night photography. Now the options i have are the class leading Canon 24-70 f2.8 mk11 NO IS....Sigma ART 24-70 f2.8 this also has IS and the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 this also has IS IS i feel may be needed as im getting older now and it could well help in future with shaky hands lol I have researched and read many tests and comparisons and just cannot make up my mind and dont know anyone who uses either the sigma or Tamrom I understand there both sharp but sigma does soften in corners wide open Tamron comes extreme;y close to the canon but one or two reviues have stated " The Tamron colours strait out of camera might not be what you expect" im hoping the reviewer is reffering to the Jpeg images although non state as such ( i always shoot RAW so it may not be an issue) but it nigles me. Does anyone here have any experience of either these 2 lens or do i really need to suck it up and buy the Canon that going to be £1000 or more second hand. Sigma similar price just a bit less and Tamron around £200 less all second hand also for the price of the cano second hand it isnt much more to buy either of the other 2 new. Or is there another option ? Any help or advice please
