I think that all sounds very positive John....if it aint broke etc I'm gonna wait at least 6 months ...
  3. I think the confusion happens because people don't realise that for three days each week Sat- Sun and Monday... you can upload concurrently for two competitions.. I can enter a pic for In the Kitchen till Monday 3 Aug midnight and also a pic for *Something Old if I wanted to.... though I have till 10 Aug midnight to post the latter* Simples
  4. Hello Jab .... you've taken the first step...always a bit daunting but they don't bite on here ! A few may bark a bit but that's just cos some are barking mad ! Welcome aboard Maybe you can tell us a bit about yourself and what sort of photos you like taking etc ... we have people on here with a range of skills who are happy to help people like me ...eager to learn. Sometimes it takes a few weeks to find your way around the various parts of a forum like this ... if you need any help ..just yell!
  5. Fascinating stuff Fuzzy.... Mimic Mother Nature.. she nearly always seems to get it right ...on balance .
  6. The voting is now closed for Competition # 8 SILHOUETTES Well done Geodar .... ...At last a clear winner who romped home with 60% of the votes in the Silhouette competition . Many congratulations Geoff on the dramatic effect of the silhouetted lighthouse and shoreline against the sky and sea . Thanks too go to all of those who entered an image,... to be judged by our peers but probably more importantly, to challenge ourselves sometimes in areas we are not always familiar with. Good luck with the next weekly competition everyone ...... Polly ....

I echo all of the above John as well...... I learn something new every time you post a pic and your catalogue of images especially of the butterflies ought to be in print as a reference book for Lepidopterists. Brilliant choice Colin .... Very well done JohnP
  13. Taken 23 July 2015.... In my defence ... there is a tree, a swallow, a telegrapgh pole and some fencing in silhouette .!!
  14. I wondered about that too Chris ...seems likely eh ?
  15. Hello . Nice to see that you have found your way to the welcome forum ... It's a great place to find out how to improve our skills to result in being able to take the photograph we really want to take and have some fun in the process. Welcome aboard!
  16. I'm just 4ft 11 ins so my articulated screen still doesn't get me as high as that above my subjects Phil ... I mean that in a non regal way of course !!
  17. Just an aside Phil ....Were you standing on a chair/ the stairs when you took that shot ....or are you just very, very tall ?
  18. I print a lot of my own images Phil and as you said ....you'd only printed about half a dozen...so you obviously would have noticed a lot earlier had you not been viewing your work mostly on a screen. Yup you need a slapped wrist. ... I 'm quite sad that so few hard copies of our art are being made nowadays. I use an Hp photosmart printer for one off work and V*s*aprint for bulk prints or books of photos.
  19. Loved the simplicity of your entry Phoenix It works brilliantly,,,,Congrats to you
  20. LUMP ...oops crossed in post with you Phil ...SO STRIPES
  21. There certainly were Tina.......I fell in love with the ring in your Photo ...I had hoped it was the prize .... Thanks for cheering ...you and your gang
