  1. I go Year > YYYY-MM-DD - Subject(s) > files I then use Lightroom to worry about what are landscapes, who's in them, where they are taken etc using keywords. I then use Collections to group all of a certain type together. So one collection of pictures with me in, one for landscapes or one for images that I've rated at 5 star. One picture can be in multiple collections, so I never have to worry about "Ohh, this is a landscape, but its also got a sunset in, and a bald eagle, and it's black and white. Where do I put it?". That way the images on my HDD always stay in one clean folder stored by date they were taken, and my Lightroom catalog can deal with everything else.

    Hello :)

It seems readily apparent that I've joined a lunatic asylum. Home at last. Thank you folks
  3. The holes in the mesh were about 10cm square, so maybe if it had been half as far away I might have seen some grey blur appearing. I can't be sure. Obviously the denser the mesh the more pronounced it'll be sooner. Thanks for the comment :-) The worrying part was I walked around the entire enclosure trying to find the best spot and it didn't take its eyes off me once.
  4. My apologies Phil. I hadn't seen that section yet. No problem at all.
  5. Oh my that sounds painful! Would it not be faster to dump it to an external drive and use a work/friends connection? I mean, you could copy it all, post it to me and I could do it before yours is done!
  6. If for a DX I suggest the excellent 35mm 1.8, and FX the excellent 50mm 1.8 as first primes. I've just paid for a second hand 85mm 1.8 that I've been lusting after for a few months! As for the D750, I'm very very happy with mine thus far and its seems very popular among wedding photographers (which I am not) who are in some cases moving from D3s and 5DIII to use it. Shame Nikon had yet another manufacturing issue though! At least they are dealing with this one appropriately.
  7. Loads of good info in there from what I've skimmed though. I learned a lot on my only visit to a zoo thus far when I went to London Zoo last year. Biggest takeaway was get as much separation between subject and fence as possible, and get as close to that fence as you can so that the wire just blurs to nothing. This shot was taken with me about 2m from the fence as that was as close as I could get, but the cheetah was a good 12m away so at f3.5 there was no fence! 8. I'm on 40MB down and 8MB up which is the most I can get in my flat. My dad and brother have 160mb virgin and I feel left out lol. I make up for it with a looot of bandwidth used.
  9. I prefer Open Office to Google docs, but use both. Open office is very good!

    Hello :)

Hello TIPF! I'm Darren and I've been into photography for about 10 years on and off. I'm coming up for 30 and work in Broadcast TV in London. I've come to TIPF in search of a calmer forum experience. I've been on a myriad of forums for various topics over the years but too many photography ones are filled with folk who get passive aggressive or rude in short order and I have no idea why. Anyway. I'll see you about
