  1. I'm sure it will be as entertaining as ever. Fingers crossed the weather forecasters have got it wrong but better to be safe than sorry. Take care.
  2. Happy Birthday Dave shutter!

  4. I've no interest in doing pro shoots but I would like to have a go at some more pro quality type family shots. Again, fancy brand names mean nothing to me (I'm a Matalan kinda guy ) so I've looked at This on the bay. It may suit my needs, it may not but I can't really complain at the price.
  5. Just checked and it is compatible with your camera. Can't give you any advise though as it's something I've never used.
  6. Just realised I never actually answered the question. There is nothing I won't try to be honest. I suppose the one thing that would worry me slightly is a wedding shoot. My sister is getting married (again) next year and while I don't expect to be asked to do the main shoot I will be there getting some much needed experience.
  7. Answer Mark's questions but also try this. Duplicate your background layer, make a completely ridiculous edit (i.e. crank the curves really high) then flatten the image. Do the changes apply? To take a screen shot on a PC: Hold down shift and press 'Prt Sc'. Open paint, click paste (or Edit>Paste). Now save the image. Open in CS3 and resize as normal for web posting.
  8. Hmm, forests? The main problem is exposure, to maintain detail in the trees means your sky will blow. Love it or hate it it's time for the digital darkroom I'm afraid.
  9. Fairy snuff, at least you have the cam :yes
  10. We've been the same here, drives you bloody mad! Thankfully our spam database has managed to catch every single one. It's a shame you couldn't get someone to take over the running for you. Even though you're changing your car did you really have to close it or have you just lost interest?
  11. Done! Far too efficient for my own good :)
  12. JamesW Good to see you back. A long story but we had major issues with the old forum that finished up with us having to do a complete re-install with a new URL. I'll update your profile to reflect your position on the old board.
  13. Welcome to the forums JamesWebber :)

  15. I would say most definitely. If you don't use the adjustment options (but I seriously recommend you do) it's well worth it simply for cataloguing your work. Your image can still be pushed into CS for editing if you wish.
  16. No, I haven't suddenly started wearing high heels and suspenders... although they do say don't knock it until you've tried it LIGHTROOM! I've been an ardent fan of the Photoshop CS series since CS2 and would never have dreamed of using anything else but with all the long boring night shifts I've been doing recently I've spent a lot of time trawling through YouTube. There are stacks of vids about Lightroom more particularly Lightroom 4 so I thought I would find out what all the hype was about, I downloaded the Trial and have to say I am totally blown away! When using CS5 I found myself, because of the program's capabilities, over processing and spending far too much time editing only to be left deflated when the vision I had for the image doesn't materialise. Lightroom allows me to not only simplify my editing but I find the overall experience to be so much more fun. Don't get me wrong, even though I'm now quite familiar with CS, the controls within Lightroom are different and I did find it a bit of a learning curve. Had it not been for the long nights with nothing else to do I may well have given up, but I'm so pleased I didn't.. I think what really impressed me the most is the program's ability to catalogue my images, no more hunting through folder after folder named by date to find a single image. I've still a long way to go before all my shots are sorted but I am actually enjoying the process. If you're already using Lightroom then you're probably thinking "Where has he been?", but if you're not then you really must give it a go. CS still has its place but it's Lightroom all the way for me from now on :)
  17. And when were you last at the opticians? Seriously though, my monitor isn't calibrated and I can't say I can see a difference in colours.
