Blimey, someone got out of bed in a strop! You do make a very good point, unfortunately a 12 hour shift has put pay to giving it a whirl today.
  2. Although miles better than my 450D I was surprised at the noise levels of the 7D. After using CS for 6 years now I've only recently discovered that the noise reduction within Adobe Camera Raw is possibly the best on the market so the noise is no longer an issue.
  3. Happy Birthday Thisisme!

  4. The 85mm on a cropped body was my concern. Since being informed of my duties on Xmas day (which include giving away the bride as both our parents have passed away) I've done loads of research and the 50mm 1.4 was up there with my choices. I really need the speed. As it's the second time around for both my sister and her hubby-to-be it's not going to be a fancy affair, the ceremony, reception and booze up are all at the same venue but I do feel obliged to make a half decent job of recording the occasion.
  5. My honest answer has to be to simply make the effort. Back in September I sold all my existing gear to upgrade, I now own a Canon 7D with just one lens a Canon 17-40 L so my options are limited. I was hoping my next lens was to be the Canon 100-400 for wildlife shoots but I've just been asked to cover my sisters wedding in August so I'm on the look out for a Canon 85 instead. The 1.2 would be the obvious choice but not sure I can justify the cost for a lens with limited use.

    New Laptop.

Without knowing your specific set up it would be difficult I'm afraid. How old is your comp/software etc?
  8. I downloaded that very video a few weeks ago and have now watched it twice. B&H do some excellent tutorials, a channel well worth keeping an eye on.

    New Laptop.

The upgrade hasn't affected any of my existing files, installed programs or hardware so I see no reason why yours should be any different.

    New Laptop.

3 hours on and a few heart stopping moments when the comp appeared to freeze (guess who didn't back up first ) and Windows 8 successfully installed on my main comp :)
  11. Welcome back If motor sport is to be the main use then a decent frame rate ought to be a consideration too, possibly 6 frames per second or higher.
  12. All the very best to you too :)
  13. Welcome to the forums Paul80 :)
