The Basilica

Loving the rich colours in this one!

Thanks Martyn. One of the things that did strike me whilst in the building was the deep colours in the very dimmed light. At the time of shooting I did think about what this would look like post processing.

I'm not sire what to make of that one Kev, the larger file does look a little odd? And I will go along with Phil about the noise suppression.

Totally different subject but I do hate the word 'Basilica' being used to describe a church, not your fault Kev just one of those things that happened over time mainly due to many churches being built inside of and/or replacing a Basilica.

I'm happy with the processing but it doesn't seem as sharp as your other images, could it be the noise removal?

Thanks Phil. There was minimal noise on the 3 images. I think a part of the problem was shooting with the 10-20mm sigma in low light at f4 has not helped. Hand held and the longest image in the set was not the sharpest image around. ISO was kept low at 100 which did not help with the speed of the longest exposure.

Cheers Colin. I post for feedback! I like it when folk give me their honest opinion. It all goes into the mixing pot and helps with my next shot! :)

As per previous comment about noise, this was minimal.  :)

I think I will have another play with this one. Maybe do some manual blending with the windows as opposed to using Photomatix. I can normally get very realistic results with Photomatix but I am finding this has not happened here so far.  I don't think it is far off but I am of the opinion more work is indeed needed. Thanks for all the feedback. Constructive feedback is a real positive.  :)

Definitely the shutter speed of the longest exposure contributes to the softness. Been back and reviewed the exif data. I have another set which is slightly faster but inevitably darker. I remember trying to get a good exposed set was proving difficult. This was perhaps just a bit too much for me and I could have done with a tripod in the really dim surroundings. With this one I think the dynamic range could have done with more than just 3 images also to really catch all of the details. This is also a part of the processing problem. So I have decided to give up on this one as a lost cause. :) You can't win them all!!!! :)

It looks a little bit better in mono with a touch of hipass.
