ON HIS PATCH

This is our....Big Ollie.................on his Patch...

The mucky, muddy, puddle pocked Back Lane, with his favourite field just over the Cattle Grid, to where he spends most of the day, no matter what the weather, stalking and then, occassionally catching a vole or a mole, but never birds since he wore a huge bell on his collar.

He isn't as quick as he used to be, so catches are few and far between, but he deserves ten out of ten for dogged (Ha!) perseverence.

You can see, exactly why he gets so filthy...a typical male, he hates cleaning himself and regularly comes in dragging, brambles, straw or other vegetable matter behind him.

He doesn't seem to mind the cold or the wet.....but if and when he does come in (especially in winter) he can stuff himself silly then crash out like a filthy teenager.

We and our neighbours love him to bits........he is SO friendly and greets everyone except those who are walking dogs.

His favourite ploy is to lie or sit nonchalantly in front of a vehicle as it moves slowly up ur down the back lane, he moves reluctantly at the very last minute:

Not taken for composition, just as a record for our albums:

He's a very handsome boy - would love to bring him home with me.  A proper cat  :-)

He is a common garden ....MOGGIE.....from a litter of feral Farm cats, so comes from a very strong gene pool of just about every UK breed of feline.

He does show characteristics of the Maine Coon breed .....he is a scruffy, mucky, lucky giant of a lovable moggie.

His younger brother had the same tabby markings but was of the very sleek shorthair variety.......sadly he didn't learn his Highway Code......Big Ollie has used up one of his nine lives when he too took on a speeding car.....he almost lost a hind leg and still walks with a distinctive limp.
