That's a serious lot of Mallards John, where was that taken..?

Ron... I took the shot in the Deer Park on Eastnor Castle Estate near Ledbury in Herefordshire, I go walking there quite often as it's only about 1.5 miles from where I live. Many years ago the stream running through the park was dammed in several places to form a series of man made lakes, this has proved to be an heaven for water birds. The Mallards are unlike the ones you see in public parks in that they are completely wild and you cannot approach them at close quarters. As you walk around the lakes the Mallards will waddle along in front of you at a range of around 50 yards or so, the second you get any closer they immediately fly onto the water. As long as you obey several simple rules the owner of Eastnor Castle allows the public free access to walk around the park, it's a great place as it is on the Southern end of the Malvern Hills and I often combine the two places in my walks.
