Dancing in the street

Recommended Posts

A very cold Saturday in Cambridge saw the Mill Road Winter Fair taking place. December 6th 2014

The (rather long) road was completely closed off and there were loads of performers of all kinds of music, dance and almost anything else you can think of doing as entertainment in public! There were also loads of people selling wintery and Christmassy stuff and food from so many different cuisines that it was a culinary delight just smelling the aromas as you walked along.

Predictably I was there along with the Cambridge Lindy Hoppers who were putting on a bit of a show of social dancing and trying to involve onlookers as well. These are a few of the pictures (small size without exif 'cos there are quite a few).

All taken with a Canon 40D and Canon 40mm f2.8STM lens

Before the winter fair performance, a few of the dancers rocked up at a shopping centre where a piano had been set up with an invitation for anyone to play it. They started dancing and lots of people either watched or joined in. The shopping centre staff were very tolerant as nobody was being obstructive or overly noisy, and let the dancing go on for quite a while before politely asking for it to end.  (All taken with 5D mkII and 40mm STM)
