Meike Flashguns

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any experience or advice for this Chinese made equipment?

I'm looking for a flashgun for my Nikon D3200 and these have caught my eye. They claim to be direct replacements for the Nikon Speedlight range but are typically about 1/3 of the price. Now, I like a bargain the same as the next guy but I've always gone by the adage that if something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong in this instance....

Really looking for a good quality flashgun that will last a while and possibly be usable if I upgrade within the Nikon range. Bounce and tilt would be a cert for portraits with good range for mid range objects although like the idea of front and rear curtain sync for low light creativity. In terms of budget, can run to the £200 cost of a speedlight if necessary but would prefer to get same for cheaper if anyone has any suggestions. Leave change for a good prime lens then... :-)

Hi

i tried one of their small models made for the m4/3 system and it was total rubbish, TTL control was virtually none existent, manual  control worked well though, but Auto was useless.

Guns made for canon & Nikon might work well but their Panasonic/Olympus control was way out.

It was their 300 model I tried.  As seen here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Meike-MK-300-iTTL-Speedlite-Flash-Light-For-Panasonic-LX5-LX7-GF1-GF2-GH3-GX1-/261365936407

Also the Micro USB socket did nothing either

have you ever looked at the yongnuo flashguns?
they cost a little more,.. but they are very good and not as pricey as the nikon ones.
I have 2 manual flashes of them and they are great!
