my friend Sarah and her 12 year old daughter,

I found this quite challenging, the house was fully furnished with no real clean space, no room for a backdrop so I opted for the conservatory and edited (yes I edited a picture) the doors out, I think it turned out ok for a first try?

opinions please.

Added the original so you can see :)

I had reflectors with me colin, trust me there was NO room to do anything.... the best I could do os get them in the conservatory, Katie was very reluctant to do anything really.

I have an idea to secure a neutral location to use as a "studio" where I think I could do a much better job, may take time though..

The proud mum & the shy daughter thing comes across really well! Gives it a story. Tidy editing too. I'd like it more if you'd crouched a bit to match their eye level, they're looking up at you. & using a fill flash for portraits is nearly always a good idea? Gives those little highlights in the eyes & really helps things pop.

thanks Darren... I was sat on the arm of a settee so our eve levels were level, Kate is very tall so I tried to get them at a similar level.... IF i get chance I am going to set my lighting up in my house and invite them back up, I think Sarah would like me to take a few shots of Kate on her own, a shy 12 year old is a fairly difficult subject!

I will keep trying .. if I can master cars at speed I'm sur in time I will be able to master portraits.
