Graffiti

This is medieval graffiti on the walls of the keep in Carlisle castle that was probably carved by bored guards and dates from around 1480. This was a difficult shot taken through glass doors with coloured lights behind me; I put my coat over my head and camera to keep reflections out, much to the amusement of other visitors.

You have done remarkably well there Martyn...............by an odd coincidence our Kobione and I were inspecting the more modrn version at Kenilworth Castle only  the other day:

Some of it dates right back but isn't as attractive as you show:

Wow, I find this sort of thing fascinating - it always gets my imagination firing, trying to understand what life was like back then.

You may have looked silly but the result was very worthwhile!

p.s. I can often be found crawling around on my stomach at airshows - this often gains some strange looks :)
