I don't only photograph pretty girls :)

 

This man was taking part in a re-enactment scene at the Victory show on Saturday Sept 6th and I'm posting both versions although I think I prefer the mono. Which do you prefer?

I'm going to plump for the colour version. I feel that a mono version should be more of an artistic interpretation than that of a faithful colour portrait; I would like to have seen a grittier, grungier mono version to express the wear and tear on that "seen too much" face.

I'll have another go at the conversion to see if I can get a grittier effect. I see what you mean, and quite agree, it would be better with those features.

Colour one for me too. The redness of the guy's face really reinforces his outdoorsy cragginess. Something I do quite often with no-flash portraits is to zoom in on the eyes & use a tiny dodge brush to enhance/slightly enlarge the highlight in each eye.
