No, I haven't suddenly started wearing high heels and suspenders... although they do say don't knock it until you've tried it ;)

LIGHTROOM!

I've been an ardent fan of the Photoshop CS series since CS2 and would never have dreamed of using anything else but with all the long boring night shifts I've been doing recently I've spent a lot of time trawling through YouTube. There are stacks of vids about Lightroom more particularly Lightroom 4 so I thought I would find out what all the hype was about, I downloaded the Trial and have to say I am totally blown away!

When using CS5 I found myself, because of the program's capabilities, over processing and spending far too much time editing only to be left deflated when the vision I had for the image doesn't materialise. Lightroom allows me to not only simplify my editing but I find the overall experience to be so much more fun. Don't get me wrong, even though I'm now quite familiar with CS, the controls within Lightroom are different and I did find it a bit of a learning curve. Had it not been for the long nights with nothing else to do I may well have given up, but I'm so pleased I didn't..

I think what really impressed me the most is the program's ability to catalogue my images, no more hunting through folder after folder named by date to find a single image. I've still a long way to go before all my shots are sorted but I am actually enjoying the process.

If you're already using Lightroom then you're probably thinking "Where has he been?", but if you're not then you really must give it a go.

CS still has its place but it's Lightroom all the way for me from now on :)

perhaps I should give it another chance?

I would say most definitely. If you don't use the adjustment options (but I seriously recommend you do) it's well worth it simply for cataloguing your work.

Your image can still be pushed into CS for editing if you wish.
