Suggestions on Croft Photograph

Recommended Posts

I was at Croft BTCC a few weeks ago and of the 700 photos i took this was my favourite with the flames from the exhaust and the heat haze on the car behind.

I also like the way way the road bent out of and then into the shot.

I havent done any post processing and would like your thoughts.

It was the first time id ever been to a motorsport event but it was a fantastic day, ill take a tent and a picnic next time.

It was hard to get a good place to stand and get photos, is this the norm?

Id just bought my sigma 70-300 and wanted to try it out.

Id noticed the the exhaust flames and finally got the shot after about 10 laps.

I like the photo very much i just have dilemmas of whether to tweak them in photoshop.

I like the crop because it looks more balanced and i find the guys stood on the trailer roof distracting.

Thanks for the comments

i can smell gasoline burning

Personally I would have cropped like Leon but left half the s of the bend in Just below the second piece of  broken spoiler as the bend tuns left

Caz if your happy with people editing your image change the "allow members to edit my image" to Yes

at croft it was fairly difficult to get a good vantage point, there is a place where they actually lock you in while the racing is on (near the hairpin)

there are far worse places to be a Photographer/spectator like at Rockingham, unless you have a 5000mm lens...

catching a flame shot is really hard, I got a Turbocharged Audi at Harewood a few weeks ago.

You must mean up near the pit lane in the center of the track, i was also told sunny in / sunny out was a good place to be.

The tents round the track dont help do they?

I was really pleased to catch the flame shot only the Ebay cars were doing it. I was surprised how hard it was to get the shot as i was shooting at 6fps.

Have you got the Audi photo on here?

definitely needs cropping, if you are using PS I would pull the levels in at each end a touch, clone out the broken track markers plus add a little selective sharpening on the Audi

..although I'm not sure about the letterbox crops?

Flames out of the car is no problem, just follow my Mk2 escort down the A19 - pops, bangs and throws flames out on the overrun. I wonder why I like it!!

Likeing the shot, I can never find a decent place at Croft, so well done for that :-)

It has to be remembered that any edit of caz's image is done to a low res image so just about anything can happen to colours

Its one of those images that can be toyed with forever, provided you have the pixels in the original all sorts of crops and adjustments can be done
