Juvenile Starling (I think)

Recommended Posts

Here is a shot I took recently of one of the many young Starlings which visit our garden from a nearby nest. Happy to be corrected on the ID if I have it wrong :)

I'm not sure about the crop on this and I am not used to taking shots of small birds like this - it was trickier than I expected to get a shot with a reasonable pose. The light was a bit tricky and I think it is too bright on top of its head as a result.

Sorry, can't help with ID I'm afraid! I think the crop is perfect. The top of the head looks fine to me, but I'm less keen on the background being so completely out of focus; however, that's a 'modern fashion' and not something that's my own personal taste. It's a good picture :)

personally i like the blurred background it makes the bird stand out more. Some really nice feather detail showing.. dont think there is much wrong with the head either as you can still see all the feathers.

Not sure what type of bird it is though

Don't get me wrong - I like a blurred background! But not so blurred that you lose all context.
