not sure about that one Martyn, always nice to have some foreground interest but the big red thing does take over the picture somewhat?? Just wondered if a little crop off the left to pull it over a little would help?

Lovely weekend in Glasson Dock; the sun was shining but that cloud looked ominous. Better head for the pub just in case it rains!

I like this Martyn, but should you simplify it a bit? Lose the right hand edge, perhaps almost to the pub edge. But the red thing really makes this a unique picture :)

I can see the composition of the image and the time taken to compose it but I agree with those above plus for me the angle of the capston and the perspective angle of the buildings lead my out of the image before I get into it

to read this image you have to go right to left

The capstan floats for me too. How strange.

Now you mention it...

One o' they there optical thingies.

Here's a suggested edit : the straightening works I think, but not 100% sure about the crop?

However, the capstan's still floating (I think its commander is trying to calibrate the best landing point before emerging from the craft and saying "Take me to your leader...")

Thanks for all the comments! Now that it's been mentioned that the capstan seems to be floating, that's what I see. So I've, err, photershopped it out and put in summat else instead  :p ! If the anchor apears to be floating it's because it's held up by all those wires!

I quite like the original posting but I do agree with Fuzzy about it seeming to read in the wrong direction. Unfortunately you can't just flip it left-right unless you're going to edit anything like text to still be the right way round.

I'm less keen on the anchor version, that seems like a big lump taking half the picture but not adding much, I'll stick with the spodge of eye-catching colour, please :)
