Hi, Brian,

As a view of an interesting corner of a friends garden, love the ornament, but, photographically it is a bit too bland, have another go when a shaft of sunlight is brightening it up, or, part is backlit.

A pleasant composition, but as the others have said it a bit let down by the lighting.

I love the lizard on the wall and can't help but think that it'd make a great shot on its own with the brickwork in the background.

Hi, Brian,

Just to demonstrate what I mean here is how it would look with a bit of directional sunlight.........all done in Photoshop in this instance....not easy on a compressed JPEG....but it will give you some idea?

Best viewed LARGE.....Click on Pic:

Hi, Brian...

You misunderstood me sir ;-)

In my first observations, I meant you to wait for a day and time when the REAL sun is shining in a fortunate direction, a break in the clouds, early morning, or at sunset, depending upon the way that very interesting corner faces........many photographers, who know their territory observe changes in the light then return when conditions are just right.

Another way around the particular problems in your first shot would be to get an assistant to hold a large white reflector to shine reflected light exactly where you want it.......even a white tablecloth would do the trick.

My effort is totally ARTIFICIAL......all done using Photoshop's amazing tools and sliders, just to show you what the real sun or a reflectir might do.

Serious photographers should always be on the lookout for those special lighting opportunities.
