I always hope, when I see veterans like this, that someone has written down, or recorded their story or memories. Unfortunately many of them were reluctant to talk about their experiences - so many emotive stories lost for ever. This is nice, Fuzzy, rememberance is vital for those of us who cannot remember!

rememberance is vital for those of us who cannot remember

A country can only go forward by experiance and thats gained from the past

ww11 is within living memory and talking to the veterens is a way to see the common mans view Unlike 1066 which is consigned to the history books that only show (sometimes correct) facts

My only dissapointment is mankind does not seem to learn very well

My community project for this year is to collect, scan, restore (if needed) veteran's photographs. Vets from WW II to the present are included.  They are requested to choose two photos that they like the best of themselves in uniform.  This will be a permanent collection for display at libraries, art galleries, etc. the title of the exhibit is: Photographs of Veterans, for Veterans by Veterans. The overall theme is photos of ordinary military life.
