A LITTLE SCRUFF

Recommended Posts

Whilst out Bug Hunting this afternoon,  with full Macro gear on camera, I was aware of a movement very close by...............this scruffbag of a Robin had landed on the garden wall to see what I was up to.

He flew off as the Macro Flash fired........I am so pleased with the result from my SONY 2.8-100 Macro lens:

I reckon he might have been using the bird bath just prior to landing.

The little raggedy robin looks lovely, but I think there's just a bit too much space around him.

More of a letterbox crop would give the shot so much more impact.

I usually give a wide berth to the birds and the bees and the cigarette trees and the soda water fountain, but this little fella is so cute I could hug him and squeeze him serve him up in a buttered bun.

Ah! Korky .......ever the observant one........thank you for you observations, and references to the Burl Ives song.....

Because I was using my full macro gear, of 2.8-100 macro lens, plastic box DIY Diffuser, the original RAW shot is huge, all hedge and garden Bokeh and the close in wall....... this is already a heavy crop......a crop that I chose because it placed my scruffy little friend in one of the magical....Thirds.

I was amazed that the cropped bird looked as good as it did, it proves that the Auto Focus on the Sony a Macro lens is spot on.....the Bokeh, is heavier than that from a 50mm but pleasing to my old eye.

Later ( is is 05:30 am now) I will try your crop suggestion to see how it looks.....

Later AM........in the meantime here is the original RAW shot as taken except for opening in PS Bridge then reducing to a JPEG for posting here:
