At the pool yesterday, my objective was to catch a gull or gulls in flight but to place them properly in the frame, or to catch one doing something different.

 

To catch one in flight is extremely difficult, because I reckon they zip by at over 70mph...........I had my TAMRON 70-300 at 5.6....camera  ISO up to 800 plus with shutter speeds way above a 1000th of a second.

 

Panning is essential, as is the constant Focus setting whivh eats batteries.

 

My camera did extremly well to focus soley on this speeding, fast turning gull agaonst that brick wall.....normally the focus locks on to that, then it is to late to catch up, the gull has long gone.

 

He day dreaming man was a bonus, he balances the frame and gives added interest:
