This is the moment the gates gave way. Although this wasn't the only way water got into the road and car park, it was the major cause of the flood in that area.

 

 

One of the consequences of the gates opening was that Asda car park got badly flooded.This was about an hour before high tide.

I was surprised that North Wales got a bit of a bashing as well.

 

All the warnings I heard on TV and radio seemed to be directed at Scotland and the east coast.

We've just been reading in the newspaper about it. A few places have been affected quite badly. I feel sorry for anyone who gets their houses and shops flooded.

On the east Durham coast we seemed to get away with the worst of the swell. Its awful for those caught up in the floods though and your photos look dramatic.

 

The power of nature should never be underestimated.
