CANT AFFORD A NEW CAMERA?

Recommended Posts

Many Folks new to photography reach the stage when they want to upgrade from a compact if bridge camera......but buying new can be prohibitively expensive.

All of my cameras except for my Sony and LX5 are second hand, either purchased via Ebay, or from the local branch of CEX the used electronics company ( they are online), I like using them because they always give a no quibble one year warranty.

eBay, is my next choice, as a long time member I get full buyer protection......only this morning a PANASONIC GF1 sold complete with lens, spare batteries and all the original packaging extras and software for under £60.....I get a huge amount of pleasure from using my Second hand GF1 ....

So......if you are thinking of upgrading don't dismiss the used market.......there are usually plenty of bargains to be had just after Christmas as new Christmas present cameras replace slightly Older kit.

Back to CEX.......they often have used memory sticks and SD cards at good prices too.....

( I have nothing whatsoever to do with the company......I just like them)

The problem w buying s/hand online is that 1) you can't return something because there's usually no warranty 2) modern cameras are such sophisticated pieces of electronic equipment that there are infinitely more points of failure than the good old mechanical film cameras. I have bought computers off eBay but they've only ever been stop-gaps.
