St. Mary's Lighthouse

eventually managed to get out first thing this morning (change of drugs working wonders).

went to St. Mary's lighthouse for the sun rising.

these are some of the lighthouse, and a few of the sunrise in another post.

the first one is a plaque on a rock telling the story of Michael Curry, who in 1739 murdered a local landlord. Curry was executed (hanged) for the murder and his dead body was hung from a gibbet at this spot, within sight of the scene of his crime.

this part of the headland has been known as Curry's Point ever since.

the blue plaque was erected in 1989 to mark the 250th anniversary.

Shame the tide was in but still worth an early rise, did it years back and got some fantastic shots.

Looks like the light was good and your shots have plenty of impact. Might be tempted to lift the shadows a little to bring out a touch more detail.

You have captured the changing light well here, Geoff, and it's interesting how it changes the picture - more dramatic looking in the first two, and so soft in the last two. All very nice to look at anyway
