Chevy Bel AIr 1955

A Chevrolet Bel Air circa 1955 - showing it's age, but still managing to display a little style!

Strange, but minutes after taking this photograph I knew how I wanted the finished image to look and I was already editing it in my head. That was two years ago and I finally did the edit yesterday afternoon.

nice edit korky.

I have loads of pictures of old cars from events, always flipping people all over the place, and reflections everywhere. I am often to be seen with my camera in the wheels, looking like something in those wonky mirrors at the fairground....

Thanks for the cropping suggestions, I shall explore.

Although I posted this in the transport section, the image isn't really about the car but about the colour and the lines and the curves. That's why I cropped it (and it was only a smallish crop) the way I did.

Glad you like it!

Haha

Its a spot on shot, it seems to me that it manages to capture the "essence" of the time - whitewall tyre, fins and chrome - along with the iconic "Bel-Air" badge

Although looking at the fin and the chrome around the back light I think its a '57

The 55 lights were at the top of the (smaller) fin, I believe

(I'm a very sad man)

There's some classic British imitators from the early 60s that would repay being featured - I'm thinking of the very American-style Ford Zephyrs and Zodiacs, not to mention the classic Farina BMC cars like the Morris Oxford, Austin Cambridge, and the 1100.
