Plants having 'lunch'....

Suddenly, over the last 48 hours our Sundews have popped up again. They only appear in about 2 square metres of our block, in amongst other native plants and I found them quite by accident this morning. These are three similar shots, but I hope you enjoy looking, a little blurry when viewed larged:

It was just a little breezy, so it was hard to get these right, and the total flower size is only about 5mm across. They are fascinating plants and I had to at least have a go because they will probably be gone by the time I'm home from work tomorrow. You can see where insects or ants have been attracted to the sweet serum they exude, (the dark bits in the centre), then they get 'absorbed' by the plant when they get stuck on it.

Just realised, sorry about the doggie hair in the first one! That was another problem I had to cope with, 3 K's wandering around me.

I was actually trying to capture the drops on the end of the stamens, but this was the best I could do, and I enjoyed it anyway - lying on my stomach on hard and rocky ground!!  :D
