Peacock Butterfly

Not stunning, but the first half decent image out of the new lens today. Severe lack of other wildlife in the local nature reserve today. Sat there most of the afternoon hoping to try out this new Sigma70-300 and apart from a fleeting glimpse of a squirrel this was the sum of a complete afternoon!

Isn't that always the case, giddy over new equipment and nothing to shoot :)

The shot looks decent though, showing plenty of detail in the markings. :yes

I know that feeling, two half decent shots from 3 hours at a nature reserve known for it's dragonfly and butterfly populations.

This is normally one of the most common butterflies around these parts and I've hardly seen any this year. Good to see that there's a few out and about giving you a nicely detailed picture as well.

Peacocks were all over a budldleia just down the road from us The most in one spot Ive seen this year

Strangley enough on the way back the buddleigh had attracted a load of whites and not a peacock to be seen

of course the camera was in the house and I was in a rush, always the way isnt it
