An Afternoon in the Park

Recommended Posts

The chilly weather and sunshine brought out the squirrels by the hundred in Jeffson Gardens in Leamington.

Sadly on this occasion we hadn't taken any peanuts but there were quite a few other people feeding them.

I guess they are eating for the winter fat to keep them warm and also storing what they couldn't eat.

I have never seen so many active all at once and it was lovely to watch them, especially as most are very tame and will come and beg for food, as you can see from the first shot.

All shots were taken with my little Olympus SZ 10 compact.

The Fungi was growing in the big hothouse in the park and was about 9-10 inches across.

I was actually going to give it that title Kobione, but decided against it as I was posting the fungi on the same thread.

It does look like he is saying that, doesn't he?

I'm not sure how long squirrels live, but it looks like the one that has been coming to us for food for the last two or three years.

It seems to have the same characteristics too.

If it is the same one, it will actually climb on someones knee for food.

I got a shot of it eating out of my husbands hand a couple of years back and it was published in the Telegraph.
