A Few From the Canals

Recommended Posts

We went to the Birmingham canals today, but walked in the opposite direction to the way we walked before.
We went in a long boat before but had a very enjoyable walk this time. There's always something different to see.

Many of the old buildings are still there, b ut most of the newer buildings have been brick built to tone in with the rest.

It was sad to see that some of the waterways had been filled in and bricks where the original low bridges once were.

They are perfect shots but I enjoyed recording the scenes.

Shot with my Olympus sz-10  which held up pretty well except for the two when I was trying to shoot a traditional boat person showing his brasses, pegged rugs and other wares from his boat which were for sale..

The trouble is that it measured the light inside of the cabin door, so everything else outside was really blown.
I hope I will get another stab at that shot if we go back again one day.

There always seems something different to see, Terry. It's like stepping into another world.

If you take the boat ride, it's takes you round where there are old rusty longboats (if they are still there)

I was particularly interested as I had just finished a book which was based on the girls who operated the longboats during the war.

I am wondering now if those old rusty boats have a history. I would love to find out.
