Street Portraiture can be a very real challenge, mixed sometimes with very real pleasure.....this lovely lady and I discovered that we had a lot in common, so were able to chat for a good few minutes. She had been in the Army as a driver, had been stationed in Germany for a while.....I had done the same waaaaay back during my National Service.

We both had fun resurrecting  our German-Speaking skills, then talked of life in general....I was able to shoot these perfectly natural portraits as we spoke; the lady was aware.

I am slowly coming around to the fact, that for Street Photography, Portraiture and general photograohy .... 50 mm and a 35 mm good quality lenses are all that are required on a decent camera.

But to get to this point, has been a very long, but enjoyable process, because I had no inkling of serious photography until I retired ...yonks ago now.

When on a City-Shoot my tiny dedicated bag contains two AF lenses plus, my favourite vintage lens, a fully charged battery, a spare SD card, and lens cleaning wipes...that’s it.

I still love and use my large drawer full of vintage lenses and my AF M 4/3 kit lenses, plus zooms.....I have slowly lost interest in birding and macro work....mainly owing to retinal surgery three years ago. I have had very serious double vision, corrected by a prism in my left specs lens, so the folding viewfinder on my GX8 is a Godsend.
