Something nice from something ugly.....

This is a Haeamanthus, also known by several other names - Blood Lily, Paintbrush Lily etc. I fogot about it until I spotted new growth from the interesting, but not very pretty bulb base;

 

 

 

Yesterday the flower is almost at its peak:

 

 

Spectacular when seen in a group - not yet for me, but this one is now where I can see it, and enjoy, from the kitchen window!
