Canon 100mm f2.8L USM Macro

Recommended Posts

I currently have the Canon 100mm f2.8 USM Macro version, I do have a Canon L series lens (24-105 f4L) so I know they're good, but I was wondering just how much of an improvement the L version is over the one I have. I know Paul went from the version I have to the L version, just wondering if I could justify the £600-800 price tag??

Heather has the non L version and bought me the L version. The L version has stabilisation, other than that I can't offer much help as all the camera gear is currently behind all the new parts for the bathroom so I cant get to them

It is technically sharper but you'd be hard pushed to spot any real world differences. However the focus is faster and the IS does make a difference as what you're seeing in the viewfinder is steadier.

Here's the thing though - the Sigma 105mm f2.8 macro is just as sharp if not better again, it has a more modern stabiliser and its a damn site less expensive.
