Two more images that I've worked on over the last week or so.

Fading Blooms - an image from the series I took for the 52 Project a few weeks ago.

Gazing Out to Sea - A candid shot of Mrs K that I took in Cyprus a few months ago.

I'm more than happy to accept some critique on these images, but please make it constructive rather than 'I don't like textures,me,' because that won't help at all.

I posted shot 2 in a FaceBook group asking for critique and, to be honest, I may as well have asked that hairy bloke who hangs about outside Kenny's Plaice on Factory Street.

I think number 2 is a lovely composition. It shows me a person relaxed with the world just enjoying some quiet time. I like the text within the texture effect for this shot. Its as if I can see the words of the post card to family at home. Maybe the character could stand out a little more? I do like that brighter hint of sunlight on the front of her hat.

In respect of the flowers, I am really into those little bokeh "bubbles" within the green. The petals to the outside of the main flower seem a little "dirty" with the blues on the leaves.

All just my opinions of course. But 2 rather nice images. :)

I do like the composition of #2. However I'm having a lot of difficulty seeing the point of having a 'text' texture. Kev gave an interesting idea about postcards, but TBH I'm not sure I'd have thought of that on my own. I think there could be a way to add text to that image but I'm not sure sthat' it.

I'm not going to comment on the flower except to say I always think the eye immidaltky goes to the brightest part of the image.

No 2 is a cracker and I would not change a thing, forget not liking textures (not keen on the text being in the image)this reminds me of a Sarah Moon's work I loved her work at the time (google her ESPECIALLY THE pIRELLI CALENDER)  she used low contrast ISO 3200 negative film to achieve this effect..I cannot fault it Korky you hit the right spot with me.:jig:

Just found these after a  really busy few days at home ... I've been flitting in and out on an iPad  but on my pc now ,, I really love the one with your lovely other half basking  in the  sunshine Korks ... I agree with  Paula little bit regarding the flowers  as the  brightness of the   bloom on the left   does make it a bit of a battle for the  eye to focus  on the main blooms.. I   love textures added to  photos  as  for me  it often gives an extra depth and dimension to  an image ...   and  I love  subliminal text and handwriting  too   ...  so  you're preaching to the converted here M'lud ...   more  please ..

..  I've just finished one   for a friend  but I'll post it now that you've really come out of the closet ...and  join ya !;)

Thanks for the comments, they were just the kind of thing I was hoping for - and I fully take the point about the brighter flower being far too eye-grabbing.

I don't want to go too far down the road of just texturing flowers etc and so I thought I'd try a people picture. For me No 2 works (the subdued text was intended to give it an air of mystery) and I'm really pleased that it works for others, too.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts, very much appreciated.
