Walsall Illuminations

Recommended Posts

I shot these a few years ago with my Fuji S9600 in the pouring rain.
I had to keep wiping the lens and kept the rest of my camera covered with a cloth. I was surprised to see that they were usable, even though some had a diffused effect.

Sadly the light show was stopped the year but one after that. I would have loved to go back with a more up-to-date camera.

There were too many to load in here so have posted a link to the album.

Just a couple :)

These are great, would have loved the chance to see this event.

I thought it would be easier to load the whole lot as I found them on a disc and uploaded straight from it.

We were cold and wet but got a hot chocolate on the way out before walking into Walsall town center to get the first train and that warmed us up a bit..

I hated Walsall station as it was cold and lonely with only a couple of light and situated in the middle of the town where you had to go down steps to  get to it.

I keep Googling "Walsall Illuminations" to see if they are are ever going to put them back on, but no joy yet..

That looks a lovely colourful event, and held in a nice setting, Nanny Shame it doesn't still seem to happen.

The park was being renovated when we were there in the summer two or three years back.

There were lots of play area for the kids in another big part of it which we didn't know existed until we saw it in daylight.

It was a nice park but the magical atmosphere of the lights wasn't there.
