A couple of shots from Saturdays wander along the coast and beach at South Shields.

Took my lightweight kit which I'm using more and more of late as although I still love the Nikon gear it's not practical when I'm out with the kids or just wandering. What I'm using is a Pentax K30 with a pair of 'kit' zooms and my Galaxy Camera in a Billingham Hadly Pro bag. There's method behind the madness in that if I can cope without the D300s, its grip, rucksack full of glass and flashguns for long enough I know I'll be able to cope without it all together. Might sound like as if I've gone insane but ultimately I want a Fuji XE1 with a few choice lenses so I have to know if I can get the shots I want without all my Pro Nikon gear.

So far so good - the K30 is performing very well (metering is weird but I'm getting used to it) and to be honest it hasn't really missed many shots that I know for certain the Nikon would have nailed. It is much lighter, weather resistant, has a 100% viewfinder, has good controls and at 6fps its only 1fps slower than the D300s. What I have missed is the big buffer and processing grunt when I've been shooting action shots but you only get that with big, heavy pro bodies so its a compromise I may have to live with.

Anyway - a couple of shots.

Both from the Galaxy Camera, processed, hosted and posted with the iPad.

Oops. I was just in a macro post where people added their own shots, so that's what I've done here. However, I've added this to someone's 'one-off' topic.

I tried to edit my post to remove this intrusion, but I can't find the Edit button anywhere - anyone care to point me in the right direction?
