Smoke across the stubble fields...

No clear horizons for us today - very unusual for us. There are still quite a few fires burning out of control in the Alpine and High Plains area, with 60 appliances still at one site and 87 appliances still trying to hold another site. Several more smaller fires to the North and North East and as a result we are getting a very smokey atmosphere. This was the view across some paddocks on my way home today, just to show you:

Yes, Annie, low lying and slow moving. We could do with a nice brisk breeze!

must really smell on the atmosphere .  me i like the smell of a nice woodburning fire, but  not so sure about that ..

I met two aquaintances on the bus on Saturday who had just come back from visiting their son in Australia, and they said that it was far too hot for them, and that they will go mid (English) year next time in the hope that it will be a lot cooler.
