Another Orb Spider....

Slightly different variety from the last, but still as impressive! Spotted him on his web as I was watering, his underside towards me:

 

 

 

 

 

 

He then wandered along his web and turned over, so I could get him from above:

 

 

 

 

Body 3cm long, with leg length 5 cms. They catch and eat grasshoppers and other insects.

I love spiders and pics of them. You can see so much more detail in them when you load them onto the computer, can't you.
Do the spiders grow very big there because of the warmth?

Thank you, all. Nanny, don't know if it's the warmth, but we certainly have a few species that get quite big! There are a good number of these around just now, you can pick them by the strong and extensive webs they repair or build overnight.
