The Pole Lathe Turner enjoying a close working moment with his son...I was impressed because he patiently explained the name and use of each gouge and chisel, with the boy repeating them as they worked;

Look closely you can see that the child is holding the top end of the gouge as it cuts....... I must admit, that like many others thought that the boy was a lass.....but his manner gave him away.

Over my years as a travelling craftsman, I knew of other Woodland Craft Lads who didn't like their hair being cut.
