He is obviously one very talented young fella.......he needs encouraging, his confidence and vision using just black pen  and white paper is showing great potential....could I suggest that you point him to the works of the 1960s Pop Artist....Brigid Riley, her work can be found if you google her images.

It always pleases me to see a young artist develop......I was encouraged by a professional artist when I was painting in oils outdoors aged just 16.....his tutorials by letter were invaluable.

Ah thank you Fooj ... ... he's been taking photographs  and doodling since he was 8 years old , now he's joined the local cricket club too and  spends ages trying to perfect his bowling action ... inbetween he spends time on his tablet building whole towns  with minecraft!! Don't ask Fooj ... it's amother world ...heheh

 I have emailed him a link  to the images of Brigid Riley ......I'm sure he'll be inspired ... as we were  in the sixties especially
