I like the image very much, a great angle and spot-on timing. But the processing isn't up to your usual standard.

Your mono stuff used to be so bloody good I got jealous, but now it looks different. Have you given up on the contrast grading you used to use for your mono processing?

No Korky, my aim is to still attain that standard .......To be honest, I almost dumped this shot because the original was so noisy, but I liked the angle and expression........just see it as......Film Noise.

Just lately my mobility has taken a hit, with athritus hitting my old leg breaks, so motivation is sometimes lacking.....

'That's enough of that health talk......but it bloody hurts.

I don't understand Fuji - that was shot at 500iso so should be completely noise free. Even if viewed at 100% the noise should be so low as to be irrelevant and after downsampling to web sized entirely invisible.

How can you have noise troubles with a modern M4/3 sensor?

Can you host and link to the original file?

Good candid picture Fuji, ----Id be interested to know more about the  contrast grading Korky mentioned?

Geoff

Hi, Geoff,

'Contrast grading can be done in Photoshop and probably in other photo processing software including Lightroom....essentially you make layer copies of a  mono shot...........then,  on each one you use the Curves slider to adjust the contrast as you wish, but only in tiny increments, mensch altered layer can be saved or ( as I do) flattened after each step.

Mono photographer Martin Henson, seems to have been the inventor of the process, please see his web pages for details.....I did purchase a copy of his DVD, to learn the technique.

I know its all personal, but I dont think this image would work so well if it was all cleaned up and no noise, it sort of gives it is used and abused look same as the

old items on sale and person browsing them!
