On my recent visit to Italy we took a water taxi across Lake Como from Varenna  to visit the Villa Carlotta at Tremezzo.

For those interested in it's history  ...

And this is a link to a virtual guided tour of the house  with panoramic views..

Here are a few of the  rooms  that I photographed ... I usually  only ever use natural light  and these rooms were just beautiful ....

Beautifully  rendered studies Clicker, I love natural light shooting, maim not a fan of using flash at all, except for macro work and the occassional experimental still life.

These also remind me of those well know Dutch/Flemish paintings, which usually contain a figure and chequerboard floor tiles.

These are a pleasure to study.

Thanks Fooji... I  use the flash so seldom that I had to check today to see how  I actually enable if I wanted to ...and I' ve had this fz1000 camera since March !It differs from the Sony as there is a pop up lock on the side that disables it ... well at least I know now ...in case I ever need it as a torch !

Vermeer's paintings often were  of people next to  well lit windows but The one painting I have always wanted to see is The Night Watch by Rembrandt....I shall get to Amsterdam in the Spring  to see it at last... Often the nearer a painting is to view  geographically,  the easier it seems one procrastinates.... as in my case ...It is a masterpiece of the use of LIGHT  at the height of the Golden Age of Dutch painting.

Very elegant, Poll, and lovely light :)

I can't see eating a bowl of pasta from that china.

Just like home Judy  .....:lol:     ;)

I love these I love the natural light in these shots. It really keeps the mood of the rooms.

I did a lot at Warwick Castle using natural light properly for the first time last year, and to compare them when I got home, I also did a couple with flash.

The flash shots looked quite stark, so I was glad I persevered with the natural ( and/or) the old fashioned styled electric lights around the room.

We are hoping to go again in December so may go armed with my DSLR which I used before, and also my little TZ60.
