Thanks Edward and Chrissy, reflections are fascinating, they are always changing and always slightly different. I used the Contrast Optimiser in Photomatrx Pro 5, I find it really easy to use - and providing you avoid the Tonemap presets and don't go too mad with the sliders you can achieve some good results.

Thanks everyone, I've just seen the Jo Charlesworth piece on yesterdays spring watch, I've just loved that abstract black/white style, so not just me that's fascinated by refletions. I was actually stood under that bridge in the 1st  image for 20 mins before deciding to take out the camera and it was that brickwork that attracted me, it's hard to convey the rippling motion that the light reflection plays across the brickwork in a still photograph.
