A Miniature Bandstand

Recommended Posts

Or maybe not, last weekend I was up a Clitheroe Castle - luckily a high enough viewpoint to grab an image that might work. So based on Chris's suggestion of:

You don't even need that. Just the simplest selection tools, a massive amount of 'feather', and Gaussian blur.

I tried just that, I selected the area I wanted to be 'in focus' used a massive 150px feather and Gaussian Blus - all done with PSP7, so here's what I got... So many thanks to Chris to pointing out something very useful there, if you get extra Brownie points for a useful post then that was it.

Ok, I might have to work on the technique to get it right, so it's down to me - actually looking back I probably should have done an even bigger feather..

Yes, that works rather well! (Gives self pat on the back). My own personal treatment of this would be to get a bit more of the audience in the zone of focus - apart from that, the miniaturisation effect has worked a treat; the bandstand and players really do look like models.

Thanks Chris, I was lucky there was a jazz festival on at the time. I'd actually gone to take one of the town, but the buildings were tightly packed and I couldn't find anything useful to focus on.
