I like what you've done with this, the old brickwork and slates look super.

Might be worth yet another visit to get the same shot, but with a dark, brooding sky. I can visualise this looking a bit spooky and dramatic.

Nicely processed - what do you use Barbara?

Thanks Chris

Messed with this one quite a bit....Lightroom to convert then stitched in PSE then used Topaz Detail Filter and saved

The I had a little memory jog from one of  Bill Allsopp's tutorials using High Pass for sharpening, and just gave the buildings another bit of a boost (high pass is a great tool but for some reason I forget about it)

Posted this earlier this year when I had a go with textures, at the moment you can't see this end of the building for rosebay willow herb, it was this angle I had come back to reshoot13444736093_3371458386_b.jpg

So many people here use Topaz. I just had a look on their website, and they are compatible with iPhoto and Elements 6 which I use both of. They're a bit pricey though, so I'll have to think long and hard ...

Is the Detail Filter what you and Korky both use to get that 'special' effect on your colour shots?

Gorgeous...dereliction at its best !

There were once plenty of derelict farms and industrial buildings around this area, trouble is property developers see them as a fast buck and they are not derelict anymore!

Chris not sure what you mean by "Special Effect"

Topaz are a bit pricey but I have just got the a bit by bit when there has been an offer on them. You also get the updates. Try the free trial just to see if it works for you

What I mean by that is "HDR yet not HDR", if you get what I mean? In other words, every bit of the picture is correctly exposed but it doesn't look all psychedelic and surreal. But it may be that your respective cameras achieve that on their own? In which case I'm sunk!

Chris, I think most of the effect is achieved with the Topas Detail, I usually choose a preset and then fiddle with the sliders until I find something I like (Very Technical LOL!!!)

Finding a preset that shows promise and then fiddling with the sliders is an OK technique. Works for me!

I've always used the presets (for me it's NIK rather then Topaz) as a starting point for a bit of trial and error. Most times it works, But sometimes.....
