Big Cats

Thanks Clicker, yeah it was a good day. The last time I went it was a lot hotter and all the big cats were hiding in the shade. The only one I didn't manage to get a shot of was the Black Jaguar, though I did see it. I only just got the one shot of the Jaguar, it was lying just below a little hill and popped it's head up briefly, I did have to do a bit of photoshopping to blur out the fence behind it....

#4 is  just fabulous with the tiger baring his ferocious fangs  !!

Yeah it was growling at another tiger that was above it.

the first tiger shot was neither

That actually looks a bit like the view you can get (if you're lucky) at the Shepreth wildlife park (near Cambridge) - there's a raised walkway and you look down into the tiger enclosure.  I got a good face to face close-up of a lion through glass at Colchester Zoo a few years ago.

That shot was very similar, the tigers are on a hill, so it's almost eye level with no glass in between. It's only my second visit to Chester Zoo, it is a tad on the expensive side but it's huge, some of the free-flying bird aviaries are excellent to visit....
